Dear Friends and Family,
Hello!
We are so excited to take you on our mission with us. We hope to share our testimonies and our work with you.
We just had a great week at the MTC. We really didn't know what to expect from our training. We were told we would have 5 days of "Preach My Gospel" training and we weren't sure how that training would help with our assignment. The good thing was, they explained that during our first meeting of our first day there. The first sentence of our mission call is a call to serve as a missionary. The second sentence is our assignment. Our first and most important assignment is to help others come unto Christ! Our training and practice centered around how to do that and integrate missionary work with our assignments.
One evening we were blessed to watch a recording of a talk Elder Bednar gave at the MTC called "The Character of Christ". It was an amazing talk. He taught about how Christ always turned outward towards others. His examples in the scriptures and his experiences touched our hearts and we both determined to do as he asked, which is very similar to what Pres. Nelson taught in the last General Conference, make the study of Jesus Christ our focal point when we study the Book of Mormon and get to know our Savior better.
Tomorrow we depart for the Philippines. We invite you to come along on our mission with us through our emails. Schedules are different for senior missionaries so I'm not sure yet when we will write next. And to be honest, I think I, Sister Tucker, will be writing most of our messages to you.
We witness that Jesus Christ is our Savior, our brother, our advocate with the father, our friend, and so much more. Sharing the gospel with others will be an honor for us and finding out how to do that will be our quest. We want to help others feel the joy we do in knowing the truths of the gospel.
We love you all and treasure our friendship with you. Thank you for your loving support.
Au revoir -
Elder and Sister Tucker
